Situated in Ballsbridge, the most exclusive area of Dublin, with street after street of very large and elegant private homes and embassies, Aberdeen Lodge opened to guests in 1991. Only minutes by DART (electric train) to the city center, yet offering a tranquil setting, this property also has a very warm and helpful staff. Morning breakfast is a treat with freshly baked scones, fresh fruit and fruit juices, and eggs any way you wish (scrambled with smoked salmon is a favorite). And there are always fresh flowers as well. There is a first floor sitting room where guests are invited upon arrival to have something to drink (and in cool months enjoy the warmth of the fireplace). Then they are escorted to their rooms, usually by one of the energetic young women on staff. The décor is simple and rooms have all amenities - satellite television, complimentary mineral water, aromatherapy toiletries, and bathrobes, even slippers! A drawing room menu is available for light meals at lunch or dinner. There are many restaurants within a short distance of the hotel offering a variety of dining options. There is complimentary guest parking in front of the house and a garden to the rear overlooking cricket grounds. The feeling here is much less one of being in a hotel and more that of a guest in a private home. Guests have the great pleasure of meeting Ann Keane who looks after everything here and embodies the very best of all things Irish. Open all year. Families are welcome.
