Located in the heart of Venice and facing the Grand Canal, this amazing new entry is surely destined to become the top boutique hotel in Venice. Created in a private palazzo of the 17th century that was abandoned for 25 years, the conversion to a hotel has taken place in one of the most fabulous buildings JDB has seen, more like a museum than a hotel. Seven years were spent restoring the wall-size canvases, frescoes and plaster work commissioned or collected by the wealthy Sagredo family, great patrons of the arts during the 17th century. No expense has been spared in this renovation, all of which had to be done on site because of the value of the art and sculptures.
With only 42 accommodations, 24 of which are suites, the piano nobile has only three enormous suites, one of which faces the Grand Canal and has little balconies with the lion of Venice on each corner. Even the smallest room, called a classic room, is very large. The original library of the palace is a national monument that has been made into an accommodation. And there are huge Murano chandeliers throughout. The hotel's formal restaurant, L'Alcova, faces directly on the Grand Canal between the Rialto Bridge and Ca' D'Oro (the vaporetto stop for the hotel). What a setting! The hotel's bar L'Incontro, serves drinks and afternoon teas. The bar menu also includes light meals created by the hotels chef who is known for his clever contemporary interpretations of Venetian cuisine. For parties, special events and small gatherings (like a family reunion), Ca' Sagredo has three fabulous ballrooms that would make the ultimate venue for a glamorous event. Managed by Stefano Baccara, one of the most highly regarded managers in Italy, the hotel also offers a fitness room, sauna, and Jacuzzi as well as all modern conveniences.
