Castelletto Di Montebenichi
C. Italy: Tuscany: Montebenichi
This enchanting little hotel, in the center of a medieval hamlet that was a fortress destroyed by the Sienese in the 15th century, has been created in a 12th century tower. Located high on a hill above a valley in Tuscany, just 28 km from Siena, Montebenichi is only a few km from the train station, offering convenient transportation to Florence. Comprised of private houses and one small restaurant, this quiet village is made entirely of stone. The Castelletto opened as a hotel in 1998 and features rooms with original frescoes, a loggia where a bountiful breakfast is served, and sitting rooms filled with valuable antiques. Each room has a name, each has antique furnishings, and each is different in layout and decor. All rooms now have air conditioning. All rooms are also equipped with complimentary minibar, in-room safes, and Internet connection (that uses a WIFI satellite bi-directional connection) for an hourly fee. The attentive owners also offer complimentary coffee and tea throughout the day and aperitivi in the late afternoon. There is a beautiful swimming pool with a view overlooking the Tuscan valley, located outside the walls of the village that the owners have built exclusively for the enjoyment of guests of the hotel. There is also one "suite" in an adjacent building comprised of a living room with fireplace and kitchen on first floor and an en suite bedroom on second floor with skylights over the bed. This accommodation also has a sofa bed in the living room that can accommodate a third person.
NOTES: There is NO ELEVATOR and all clients must go up at least one flight of steps to reach the rooms and breakfast room. This is a NO SMOKING hotel, and children under 14 years are not accepted.
