Hotel D’Inghilterra
C. Italy: Lazio: Rome
Built in 1845 and located in the heart of Rome, just around the corner from Via Condotti and the Spanish Steps, this hotel is often listed as one of the top 100 hotels in the world because of its superb location. Just outside the hotel's doors are all the distinguished Italian designer boutiques plus myriad trattorias serving typical Roman cuisine. While the location in the center of the major tourist and shopping areas is convenient, it is an area full of activity, and therefore, not a quiet one. The first floor of the hotel, with its comfortable sitting rooms, a cozy bar and restaurant, offers a refined and sophisticated atmosphere. The chef is excellent and a meal here is a must. Although many rooms have been renovated, room size varies greatly, and during high season, guests have been told that all rooms are considered "deluxe". Junior suites and suites on the top floor are very nice, and the Presidential Suite, a duplex, connects to a double room. JDB clients are so numerous at the D'Inghilterra, that there is a special hotel staff person who specifically handles JDB reservations requests and looks after room assignments for JDB clients.
NOTE: JDB does NOT recommend standard rooms. Private cars are NOT allowed into the pedestrian area to drop luggage at the hotel — only taxis.
