Hotel Palazzo Bocci
C. Italy: Umbria: Spello
Located in the historical center of Spello, just 15 kilometers from Assisi, this charming family owned and managed hotel was built in the second half of the 18th century. The Buono family, and their warm and friendly staff, are a treat to meet. The hotel has two breakfast rooms, a lovely terrace garden (where breakfast can be served in warm weather) with views of the Umbrian valley, as well as a comfortable and inviting lobby with fireplace and bar. All of the accommodations have mini-bars, satellite television, and in-room safes; suites have jacuzzi tubs and are a bargain. There are connecting rooms for families. The restaurant Il Molino, across the street from the hotel, is also owned by the Buono family. It has been written up in Gourmet magazine and is a must for anyone visiting Umbria. The first written records of Spello, one of Umbria's most picturesque and unspoiled hilltowns, date back to the year 40 B.C. It is conveniently located midway between Florence and Rome and is a stopping point for many JDB clients. The famous Spello Flower Festival is held on Corpus Christi day; in June; the streets are covered with intricate bright colored designs made of flower petals. In February, Spello hosts an Olive and Bruschetta Festival. Palazzo Bocci is open year round.
