Located 12 miles north of Verona, this property has a countryside location on the famous plain of Valpolicella. Surrounded by vineyards and gardens, the property is an active farm with buildings dating to the 13th century. The focal point of the lobby is a restored baroque altarpiece that has been converted into the front desk. Two beautiful rooms form the hotel's two Michelin starred restaurant Arquade where renowned Chef Bruno Barbieri reigns. The cuisine and the service are outstanding and highly praised by guests as well as residents of Verona who frequent Villa Del Quar for weekend meals. An attractive outdoor dining terrace overlooks the landscaped garden with vineyards and fields visible in the distance. The large swimming pool with its gazebo bar is an obvious draw during the warm summer months. The owners have created a beautiful cellar for wine tasting, which dates to the Roman period and was last renovated in 1539! Cooking courses can be arranged, and the wine produced on the estate is available for purchase. A few years ago, six new suites (there are now a total of 10 suite type accommodations) were created and sumptuously decorated in a neoclassical style with closets concealed by antique doors. Two boast two bathrooms, and one is on the ground floor with a view of the swimming pool. Details such as a shower placed in what once was an old fireplace and a ceiling light formed of a cluster of pink Murano glass roses. The family that own and manager Villa Del Quar are so successful at looking after their guests, many use Villa Del Quar as a base for visiting not only for discovering the treasures of Verona and the local vineyards, but also for visiting nearby Lake Garda.
