Locanda dei Mai Intees
N. Italy: Lombardy: Lake Varese, Azzate
Locanda dei Mai Intees is a wonderfully restored hotel housed in a 14th century building perched over Lake Varese with impressive views of the giant Mount Rosa and Lombard Pre-Alps. This hotel is just 20 km from Milan's Malpensa Airport in Azzate, a charming medieval town. The hotel has maintained its original appearance with its extraordinarily beautiful 15th century frescoes and stone fireplace from the 1500s. There are twelve accommodations, each of which is designed differently. Wooden beamed ceilings, antique photos, prints adorning the walls, embroidered fabrics and lace finishes can be seen throughout the hotel. The suite located in the hotel's medieval tower has breathtaking views of Lake Varese, the mountains, and the rooftops of Azzate. The heart of the hotel is the lounge, located in the ancient veranda, which has inviting sofas and armchairs. Two meeting rooms are available that hold up to 60 persons offering state-of-the-art technological support. Their charming restaurant is run by the owner's son, Paolo Crosta, who has worked for many years at L'Albereta under the guidance of Gualtiero Marchesi. The restaurant serves traditional regional dishes and has a first-class wine list.
