This is a beautiful 19th Century Moorish palazzo that has recently been opened as a four-star beauty directly on the Grand Canal. Its position is between the Accademia Bridge and Ca' Rezzonico. The four storey building offers 24 accommodations including three suites and six junior suites. There is a terrace facing the Grand Canal where breakfast can be served during warm weather as well as a lobby bar and breakfast room on the ground floor. Light meals are available throughout the day at the lobby bar. Guests feel as though they are entering a private home with a warm greeting from the staff.
On the top floor is a former chapel decorated with mosaics and a fresco depicting Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden. There are also two stained glass windows. Six rooms face on the front of the hotel and four more have a side view of the Grand Canal. The rest face the garden and some of these can see the rooftops of Venice. These rooms turn red with the sunset in the afternoon. There are no two rooms the same. Those that have shower only have a hydro massage shower. One special room on the top floor gives the feeling of being in the front of a boat with one opaque glass wall of windows, 2 of which open in the middle row. Housekeeping is excellent and pillows and bedding are luscious!
The hotel has a private water taxi entrance. The vaporetto stop is Ca' Rezzonico. The traghetto also operates directly in front of the hotel to cross the canal and save many steps for very little money. There is a large Jacuzzi on the rooftop with a nonstop view! This little gem is owned by the same owners who brought us Locanda Vivaldi, one of JDB's most popular Venetian hotels.
