It began as a 12th century monastery situated high on a hill, just one kilometer from the border of Tuscany, with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside and Lake Trasimeno. A large swimming pool is located to take advantage of this view. And during warm weather months, there are flowers everywhere! The ancient stone buildings have been beautifully restored and opened as a hotel in April 2000. Accommodations are scattered throughout and include 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments that are perfect for families. The Tuscan family responsible for the transformation has had a very successful antiques business, and antiques are used throughout the property. In 2005, the hotel’s restaurant Alla Corte del Sole opened – in a charming location with a terrace overlooking the valley where one can see the sunset – and serves and a la carte menu combining traditional cuisine with a modern touch. (The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.) Each accommodation has all modern comforts (i.e., minibar, satellite TV, and in-room safe). This property is conveniently located just 15 km from Cortona where the family owns Tonino's Restaurant, one of the most highly regarded in the area.

NOTE: There are steps on the property and NO ELEVATOR. Hotel normally closes during January and February.
