Created in a 17th century building in one of the oldest Roman neighborhoods, The Inn at the Roman Forum is just steps from the Roman Forum, three blocks from the Colosseum, and one block north of Via Cavour. Those checking in will have a unique treat in store as a Cryptoporticus was discovered on the premises, comprised of a stone gallery with carved figures and artifacts all of which date back 2000 years! It is located just behind reception and can be visited. In fact, the street itself where the hotel is located is the one down which Roman soldiers walked to the Roman Forum. There are practically no cars on the street so it is very quiet.
The hotel's 12 rooms are each different and are beautifully appointed. Only one room (202) is too small for JDB clients and is used primarily for internet bookings that are rate sensitive. Most other rooms have two large windows. Another unique feature of the hotel is its tranquil rooftop garden separated by a high wall from the Ibernese (Latin for Irish) convent owned by the Vatican. Church bells ring at noon each day! Two rooms with original beamed ceilings at the top of the hotel can be taken together and closed off as a suite with access to the walled garden with outdoor sitting area. The rooms do not have separate inside sitting areas.
Also on the top floor is the chic black and brown lounge where breakfast is served in the mornings and sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres and canapés are available. In warm weather, the garden can be used for these services.
Room 302 has windows on the interior courtyard as well as a small balcony. Room 301 is a gorgeous one with a fireplace (Italian fire regulations do not permit to use it!) facing the front street. This one has a sofa bed and would be perfect for families. Room 201 is the same layout but has original ceilings. All bathrooms feature a different marble.
This is really a beautiful small property away from the noise and traffic of Piazza di Spagna.
