The Royal Park
England: London

The Royal Park Hotel, like so many in London, is a collection of townhouses that have been brought together as one hotel. Easily accessible from the Paddington underground stop, the hotel is near Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Royal Albert Hall and Oxford Street. Imbued with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, there are two attractive reception rooms, one blue and one green and each with a fireplace, where breakfast can be served. Guests can also choose to have breakfast served in their room. The hotel was renovated three years ago and offers 15 suites among its 48 accommodations, all with limestone bathrooms.

Upon visiting the hotel, JDB noticed there were no marks on the walls, often made when transporting luggage through the corridors. The hotel has a resident painter! Very clever! The hotel is clearly very well maintained. Rooms have lots of natural light given the large windows. Room 205 is one of the deluxe four-poster suite. The beds in these rooms are very expensive (around $14,000!), so much so that the manufacturer gives customers buying the beds a complimentary night at the Royal Park!

The hotel is under the management of Stein Hotels, and the manager here is Australian and clearly loves his work! A very nice touch: complimentary champagne and canapés are served from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
