This three night package is designed for cooking enthusiasts who want an in-depth understanding of the use of two of Italy's most treasured ingredients in cooking - olive oil and wine. Located in the medieval hilltown of Montefalco, one of the most picturesque areas of Italy, is the Villa Pambuffetti, owned and managed by the Pambuffetti family. Cooking lessons are conducted each morning in the villa's kitchen by Alessandra Angelucci Pambuffetti, a professionally trained chef and author of a recently published cookbook, Umbrian Secrets. The emphasis is on incorporating local olive oil and wine into Umbrian cuisine. You will learn to prepare home made pasta as well as various meat and dessert dishes. The special products of the region - black truffles, local cheeses and cured meats - will also be incorporated into the lessons.
Day 1: Arrival at Villa Pambuffetti. Relax at the hotel's beautiful swimming pool or explore the enchanting town of Montefalco.
Day 2: Breakfast is followed by the first cooking lesson from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30p.m. Learn to make a variety of dishes incorporating olive oil as a key ingredient. Then enjoy what you have prepared for lunch, with the appropriate wine included. The afternoon is free to visit the nearby hilltowns, either on your own or with a local guide that can be arranged through JDB. Assisi, often referred to as the jewel of medieval hilltowns, or Perugia, Umbria's largest and best preserved hilltown are recommended.
Day 3: Enjoy breakfast, and then learn to prepare various dishes with an emphasis on how to choose the wine to accompany them. Lunch will consist of the dishes prepared with accompanying wines. The afternoon is free for touring or shopping.
Day 4: Breakfast and departure.
