JDB Private Transfers With Sightseeing do not have to be booked in conjunction with a hotel booking. Most vehicles used are Mercedes E-class, V-class & 16 seat minibuses. However, JDB Ground retains the right to substitute a different vehicle type if necessary. Tour itineraries are subject to change due to site closings, inclement weather, strikes or other unforeseen circumstances. JDB Ground reserves the right to substitute a venue or site during a tour in the event the scheduled site is not available. In rare instances it may be necessary to reschedule the starting time of the transfer; in such situations, clients will be notified in advance.
Entrance fees to museums and exhibits are not included in the rate unless indicated, nor are gratuities for drivers and guides.

Florence to Rome With Sightseeing
7-9 Hours
Depart at 9:00 a.m. for a leisurely drive to Rome and take advantage of stops along the way for sightseeing, wine tastings or guided tours. Choose from five optional routings.

Option A: Siena and San Gimignano
Stop in Siena, often called Tuscany's most beautiful hill town, and San Gimignano, known as the "Manhattan" of Tuscany because of its 15 medieval towers. Both cities have very important Etruscan and Roman heritage. Included is a 2 hour private tour of Siena, where in 1472 the world's oldest bank was founded and the Palio horse race is held each year. Then enjoy lunch in a local restaurant (additional cost) and continue on to San Gimignano where you will have an hour on your own before continuing to Florence.

Option B: Wine Tasting in Tuscany
Enjoy a magnificent day in the Tuscan countryside tasting two different wines: Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Chianti Classico. Tastings will be in a castle in Chianti and at the estate of a small wine producer. Enjoy an hour on your own exploring Montepulciano and then Greve in Chianti. A three course lunch (beverages excluded) in a charming family owned restaurant is included.

Option C: Assisi, Perugia, and Cortona
Tour the amazing Basilica dedicated to St. Francis on a two hour private tour of Assisi, the charming hill town where he lived. Then travel to Perugia, visiting the Perugina chocolate factory and the amazing underground Volumni tombs dating to the Etruscan period. Lunch (additional cost) will be in a restaurant featuring typical Umbrian cuisine. Then visit quaint Cortona for a stroll along its picturesque streets before continuing to Florence.

Option D: Castello Banfi
Travel to the heart of the Brunello di Montalcino wine region for a visit to Castello Banfi, a magnificient XII Century Castle. World renowned wines, including the "super-Tuscans" are produced at the estate, and you will enjoy a winery tour, a visit to the property's antique glass museum, and the beautiful castle courtyard. Then savor a 3 to 5 course wine tasting lunch (additional cost) to experience fabulous wines to complement each course.

Option E: The Ancient Etruscans
Explore the Etruscan civilization that began over 3,500 years ago. With your private guide, visit the towns of Pitigliano, also home to one of the oldest Jewish communities in Italy, Sovana and Sorano to see the remains of this amazingly advanced culture. Included is a stop to see the ruins at Vitozza, where the earliest traces of Etruscan civilization are found in its cave dwellings. Lunch (additional cost) will be in a family run restaurant specializing in authentic Tuscan recipes of the area.

These delicious products are important ingredients in many traditional dishes, and you will learn how to recognize the authentic ones from the many imitations. Lunch (additional cost) will be at a trattoria that incorporates these products in their dishes.

Begin your private tour of Verona in Piazza delle Erbe, the town's famous square that is adjacent to the Arena, Verona's Roman amphitheatre dating to 30 AD. One of the best preserved in the world, it now is the site for opera performances in the summer. See Juliettes balcony, an underground Roman temple and stroll along via Mazzini. Stop for lunch in one of our favorite local restaurants (additional cost), and then have a beautiful view of the city from the surrounding hills before continuing on to Venice.

Option C: Palladian Villas
Meet our professional guide near Padova for a 2 hour tour of the villas of Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Inspired by elements from both Roman and Greek design, his unique "Palladian" architectural style is legendary. Depending on availability, the villas visited will be 2 of the following: Villa Pisani, Villa Foscari, Villa Barchessa Valmarana or Villa Widmann. The inside of one villa will be toured, and the other will be seen from the exterior. Enjoy lunch (additional cost) in a local restaurant specializing in the cuisine of the area.
