JDB Tours do not have to be booked in conjunction with a hotel booking. Tour itineraries are subject to change due to site closings, inclement weather, strikes or other unforeseen circumstances. JDB Ground reserves the right to substitute a venue or site during a tour in the event the scheduled site is not available. In rare instances it may be necessary to reschedule the starting time of the tour; in such situations, clients will be notified in advance.

Entrance fees to museums and exhibits are not included in the rate unless indicated, nor are gratuities for drivers and guides. Unless otherwise indicated in the tour description, tours begin at either 9:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. and are available daily. Preference for either morning or afternoon tour must be indicated at the time of booking. The guide will meet clients at their hotel, unless another meeting point is designated in the itinerary. Rates are subject to change.

Dublin Literary Walking Tour
3 Hours
Walk in the footsteps of some of Ireland's most famous writers. You will be met at your hotel by your guide for a general introduction to the history of Dublin. Then it's on to Baggot Street.and the Grand Canal, an area much loved by poet Patrick Kavanagh. Next is Merrion Row - home to the most literary pubs in Dublin which still echo with the wit of Brendan Behan and James Joyce. Take in the Georgian splendour of Merrion Sq., birthplace of Oscar Wilde, and then pass through the playing fields of Trinity College whose past alumni include Swift, Wilde and Beckett. Our next stop is Dublin Castle and the lavish Chester Beatty Library. Then on to St Patrick's Cathedral where Jonathan Swift of "Gulliver's Travels" was once Dean, and a visit to nearby Marsh's Library - one of Dublin's best-kept secrets. Your guided tour finishes there and we recommend a pint in nearby Guinness Storehouse with its magnificent views over Dublin City.

Dublin Art and Architecture Walking Tour

From Georgian Splendor to Modern Masterpieces, enjoy the art and architecture of Dublin. After a brief history of Dublin at your hotel, your guide will introduce you to the Georgian elegance of Fitzwilliam Square and the sumptuous Georgian interiors of nearby Newman House on St. Stephen's Green. Then have a quick look at Ireland's National Gallery and the Georgian beauty of Merrion Square and Leinster House. Pass through Trinity College, founded in 1591 by Queen Elizabeth, to historic Dame Street with the old Houses of Parliament and City Hall. Walk over the river Liffey to Henrietta Street where Georgian Dublin began, and finish at the renowned Hugh Lane Gallery with its dedicated Francis Bacon room.

Kilkenny Walking Tour
3 Hours
Kilkenny, considered the medieval capital of Ireland, has an outstanding collection of well-preserved churches, castles, buildings and streets. Meet your guide at the entrance to magnificent Kilkenny Castle, a stronghold of the powerful Butler family for over 600 years. After a tour of the castle, look across the Nore River to the handsome Georgian building that was Kilkenny College, whose alumni include Swift and Berkeley. Then begin a walk through the narrow streets and arched lanes of this lovely city. Stroll up High Street and stop at the arcaded Tholsel (Town hall) to look at the city charters. Drop in on Rothe House, a 16th century Tudor style merchant's house that is now a charming museum with a 17th century reconstructed garden. Overlooking the town is the 13th century cathedral of St Canice and beside it the even more ancient round tower, which can be climbed. The tour ends back at the Castle with perhaps a cup of coffee in what were once the stables, or a stroll through its lovely gardens.
