Plaza Hotel Lucchesi

Opened in 1860, the Plaza Lucchesi enjoys an enviable position directly on the Arno River's right bank, near Santa Croce Church, a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio and the historic center of Florence. This is an excellent hotel with a very competent staff and a large percentage of American clientele.

Facilities at the hotel include La Serra Restaurant, and American Bar, and a piano bar in the evening. The hotel has three categories of rooms - including some of the smaller standard rooms - that face directly on the river. Some rooms at the back of the hotel face Santa Croce Church. Duplex suites, comprised of a sitting room downstairs with bedroom and bathrooms upstairs (some even have two bathrooms) can accommodate up to four persons making them perfect for families. If a Duplex Suite is not available, the hotel also has connecting rooms. All accommodations are equipped with satellite television, mini-bar and in-room safe.

On a recent visit, the investment made in refurbishment - which is ongoing - of the public areas as well as the rooms was apparent. Hotel rates are very attractive considering its position on the river.

NOTE: The hotel does have a garage with a limited number of spaces. Otherwise, cars are taken to another garage nearby.
